Harbor Chevy Supports Michigan City Youth Baseball
"MICHIGAN CITY — Harbor Chevrolet Buick GMC has teamed up with Michigan City’s youth baseball program to donate more than $3,000 in T-shirts, equipment bags and dugout storage for this year’s participants.
'They’ve always been very good at getting involved in the community,' said Jeremy Kienitz, recreation director for the city’s parks and recreation department. 'I was very excited when Harbor contacted me about sponsoring our teams. Some of their employees have friends and family who participate in our programs, so it was really a no-brainer for them to partner with us.'
What’s more, the dealership at U.S. 421 and CR-300N is participating in a nationwide raffle for a Chevrolet Cruze or Equinox, with all of their proceeds going to fund equipment and supplies for the city’s Parks and Recreation-sponsored youth baseball program. One local winner will receive a deluxe home entertainment package. A coupon for $15 off Harbor services or $150 off a vehicle purchase comes with each ticket.
Raffle tickets are $5 and will be sold starting early next month at the Parks and Recreation department office at the Senior Center. Tickets also will be available from youth baseball participants.
The effort is part of Chevrolet’s nationwide Chevy Youth Baseball sponsorship program, which started a few years ago, said Tom Little, Harbor’s e-commerce director. Harbor’s sponsorship will continue at least as long as the program is running, he said. Chevrolet and Chicagoland Chevy dealers are hosting the 2011 Chevy Youth Baseball Instructional Clinic at Wrigley Field on May 5 and at U.S. Cellular Field on May 7."
